Screen shot of Windows
application used to manage the NTMA SF BAY web site search engine database |
|---|

This application manages the list of member companies in a chapter of the NTMA. Associated with each company is a list of capabilities and services each company provides. The list is constructed of pre-defined categories so that visitors to the web site can accurately search for companies which offer certain services or combinations of services. Changes to the data (additions, deletions, and updates) are kept track of by the Windows program, and on demand, only the changes are communicated to the web site database which is immediately updated so that it matches the PC based database. This design allows the site administrator to work off-line updating the database of members and services and then with the click of a button update the web site to match.
Another benefit of this design is that complex reports, mailing labels, and other output can be generated by the Windows program. The user-interface can be more sophisticated with more features and better validation than can currently be achieved via HTML interfaces.
